Intuition-Where Did You Get That Idea?

I MENTIONED IN A PREVIOUS article that it was from observing my pet lame duck that I intuited God to be the source of all creation’s instincts.

Right or wrong, since God is spirit and he communicates to me through my spirit, it makes sense that instinctive behavior—which scientists have not explained—could be more than an innate mechanism that tells me what to do without thinking.

I believe intuition comes to us the same way—Spirit to spirit.

Furthermore, I believe understanding the purpose of intuition is a matter of life and death.

You cannot go to school or read a book in order to gain intuition, nor can you, through your own volition, conjure up a revelation. If it were possible, mankind would not still be trying to answer the basic questions about life:

Where did we come from?

Why do I exist?

Where am I going?

Is there a God?

All we know for certain is that intuition exists somewhere in the immaterial part of us. When asked why or how we defy reason, logic, and often our instincts—and we prefer to act on our intuition—we might say, “I don’t know where I got the idea. Something just told me.”

“Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn’t really do it, they just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while.” —Steve Jobs

We might describe intuition as a feeling in the gut, a voice speaking from the heart, or a vivid picture we see in dreams. And even though we may agree this sounds crazy, whatever we have intuited becomes real for us.

Intuition brings about things that cause us to scratch our heads, take pause, and witness what we can only describe as amazing, unbelievable, miraculous, or majestic.

It is through this experience that we can glimpse the possibility that God transcends time and space to enter the spirit of his beloved creation, whether his creation acknowledges him or not, to reveal his very nature, which is amazing, unbelievable, miraculous, and majestic.

I believe God endows us with intuition so that His Spirit can communicate with us to help us believe, among other things, that he is for us and not against us. What parent wants their child to be afraid of them? What child wants their parent to be aloof?

People like George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Edison, Martin Luther King, Jr., Benjamin Franklin, Albert Einstein, and Steve Jobs were ordinary, common men until they acted on their intuition and became extraordinary to us.

The same is true for Martin Luther, Augustine, the apostle Paul of Tarsus, a band of fishermen and a tax collector known as the Disciples of Christ, King David, Noah, Joseph, Moses, and Abraham. The only reason we know these people is because they acted against their natural instincts and listened to the Voice of Intuition.

The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.–Albert Einstein

Jesus of Nazareth, the most extraordinary of all men, demonstrated intuition in action. He also explained how it works. As a perfect man without sin, he told his followers that he only said or did what God, his Father, told him. Intuition.

He explained that when his followers had a “revelation” with eyes to see, and ears to hear, to understand the mysteries found in Scripture, such knowledge, and even the faith to believe, came from God, the Father. Intuition.

And when Jesus returned to the Father, his followers received a Counselor as Jesus promised. A new man did not appear to lead the early Christians, but a “voice” to guide them. Intuition.

Thankfully, before Jesus left, he mentioned those of us who would be born later when he said, “You believe because you’ve seen with your own eyes. Even better blessings are in store for those who believe without seeing.”

I will ask the Father, and he will give you another helper who will be with you forever. That helper is the Spirit of Truth.

The world cannot accept him, because it doesn’t see or know him. You know him, because he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you all alone. John 14:16-18
